    With temperatures set to soar this summer, it is important to bear in mind the very real danger of heatstroke when exercising your dog.

    On hot days it isn’t always necessary to walk your dog. Spending time with your dog in other ways can be just as beneficial, such as relaxing in the garden in the shade, or filling up a shallow paddling pool to let them play in.     This year, Rabbit Awareness Week is raising awareness of the dietary needs of rabbits and helping owners understand why they should make the change from a muesli to a high-quality hay based diet.

    Why is muesli bad?

  6. Kennel Club welcomes consultation on third party puppy sale ban

    The Kennel Club has welcomed a consultation by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) about a ban on the practice of selling puppies via third parties as a crucial step forward to tackle the cruel puppy farming industry. However, concerns have been raised about how the licensing regulations will be enforced and whether or not they will be enforced efficiently. (Read more…)

  7. Scottish ban on shock collars a victory for dogs and dog lovers!

    The Kennel Club has welcomed the announcement by Cabinet Secretary for the Environment Climate Change and Land Reform, Roseanna Cunningham MSP to ban the use of electric shock collars in Scotland.

    The announcement follows a series of consultations, culminating in a meeting hosted by the Kennel Club during which welfare, veterinary and behaviour organisations all came together to call on the Scottish Government to follow the example of the Welsh Assembly and ban the use of shock collars in Scotland.   8. Veterinary Practice to Open on Monday 12 February

    We are delighted to announce that, on Monday 12 February 2018, our veterinary practice will be opening its doors to its very first clients.

    The veterinary practice will be run by established, not-for-profit, veterinary group, Animal Trust. Animal Trust, who already have five practices in the North West, are a social enterprise whose ethos supports the belief that veterinary care should ‘be about making animals better and not about making profits’.
